It’s that time! The dog day doldrums of August call for only one dramatic cure: A party!

A couple of years ago Fatcat decided he was coming up to Michigan, and Eric Ryder, Ghoosdum, and Thrax decided they wanted to hang out and see the Dream Cruise. Well, you know what happens when out-of-towners decide they’re going to visit ICHQ: An event is born!

Centered around summer, the Woodward Dream Cruise, friendship, and beer (of course), the tradition has been to deep-fry a turkey every August and go hang out and see what is probably the largest outdoor car show in the world.

If you’re interested in attending, we have a Facebook page for it. If you attend, you’re eligible for the Icrontic Summer Shindig achievement as well. Come on down!

  20. 12 Aug 2010 ~ 11:34pm Jason Hm. I can't decide between this or Richard Kaczynski's talk on Aleister Crowley at the Detroit OTO. temple. I think Crowley is far more interesting than cars, but then, the OTO isn't giving out achievement badges for attending their event. :p

    I'm sad I can't make it this year. I'd be at all this crap if I was still local (a 4 hour drive is local).

  24. 13 Aug 2010 ~ 1:46pm lmorchard This will probably sound heretical, but: Both the missus and I HATE Dream Cruise. I used to live a block from Woodward and wanted to leave town every summer when it came around, kind of like Art Fair in Ann Arbor.

    But, we're interested in finally showing for an Icrontic event - will there be non-Dream-Cruise festivities?
  25. 13 Aug 2010 ~ 1:49pm Ryder In the past, we drove up to ~12/13 mile and Woodward on Saturday afternoon, found a place to park and then wandered around for 1 to 4 hours (depending on the group) and then headed back to ICHQ for dinner/beer/whatever.

    Most definitely there are other things Friday and Saturday night besides Dreamcruise.

    There are always non dream cruise-related things going on. While the car people do their thing, we usually hang out and barbecue or go get dinner somewhere.

    Hell, without Ryder, I don't know that there WILL be any dream cruise visits...

    I am in for sure to head down to the Cruise. Taking pictures was a blast except for the dumbass bros that tried to splash me with water while i had a $1200 camera in my hand. Luckily the fuzz was right there to bust them.

    Since I've been strong-armed back to Tuesday-Saturday at work, looks like I won't be attending many IC events unless I burn PTO. That said, I'm supposed to attend a random get together with some friends in my hometown on the 23rd, maybe I'll make a weekend of it by swinging by ICHQ for a few hours on the 22nd then driving up to my hometown from there.

Our dress code only states "Use your best judgement and don't come to work naked" (or "wear clothes" depending on the revision of the employee handbook one is reading). I suppose I would still technically be wearing clothes and not naked. I might not be using my best judgement though...
