Lego Rock Band details released

You're a Lego man, Bowie... A Lego man.

Lego Rock Band is coming out for the holidays this year, and Warner Bros. has finally released the track list, along with some other details. It seems that more than anything else, the new game can be described as a new, flexible Rock Band engine. Players will be able to play any of their current Rock Band songs (with the exception of The Beatles Rock Band playlist) inside Lego Rock Band, or they can export the Lego Rock Band playlist to be played in Rock Band 2 for no additional fee. As expected, all of the standard Rock Band instruments will be compatible with Lego Rock Band. Those who were afraid that the playlist for the new MTV Games production would be mostly kid stuff will be relieved to hear that the playlist looks to be more for those who grew up playing with Lego, rather than just for those who play with Lego now. Notable inclusions are offerings from Queen, Bryan Adams, Carl Douglas, and Jimi Hendrix.

Here is the announced Lego Rock Band playlist for Wii, XBox 360, and PS3:

    UPSLynx Hmmm...

Spinal Tap, Queen, Lostprophets, Jackson 5, Elton John, Bryan Adams..

Those are some impressive names. This sounds cool.

And the frigging KOOKS?! Naive is a GREAT song!

I just hope the game is difficult. I played the Beatles Rock Band last night for the first time. Sweet game, but WAY to easy. Every single song I played that had drums rated at 5 stars (hardest) and played on Expert, I averaged a 95% on sightreading.

    That's WAY too easy.

Thrax How can we milk two franchises harder? I KNOW. COMBINE THEM.
  3. mdsteele47 There better be an unlockable Lego GOB Bluth for Final Countdown. That's all I'm sayin'.
  4. Naim @Thrax: Wake me up when Lego Grand Theft Auto comes out.
  5. Thrax
Thrax @Naim: Or Lego Metal Gear Solid? Lego Final Fantasy? Lego Mario?

  7. wahay I can't add the umlaut to "Spinal Tap" :(
  8. Linc
    Linc Spın̈al Tap?
  9. MAGIC
MAGIC Its not an umlaut when it is over an n.

Nothing in that set list makes me want to play the game. Except maybe T-Rex.

primesuspect It's called a diaresis. Also, the official name of Spın̈al Tap also removes the dot from the i.

I thought the franchise jumped the shark when they made a Lego version.

That being said, Lego Star Wars is a fun game. I will be cautiously optimistic.

UPSLynx The Lego theming is stupid, but I don't really care about it. Band customization is nice and all in Rock Band, but I'm there to play a challenging rhythm game, not play dress up or watch the video in the background. It's primarily why Beatles Rock Band's presentations means naught to me. I don't pay attention to it.

If this has new, challenging songs, then cool. If it's attempting to ride the (tired) Lego brand to glory, then I won't care about it.
  16. Gate28
Gate28 I played the game at PAX. I was unimpressed with the song list. I did get to play Kung-Fu Fighting on guitar, and I must say it is challenging, but not in a fun way.
