The Icrontic Community
We pride ourselves on our sense of community here. You'll quickly notice that members treat each other with respect and there is no 'flaming' (insults or taunts) on the site. People never get abused in our forum and we welcome beginners. That alone seems to be a rare feat these days. Our staff works very hard to maintain a friendly tone throughout the forums, and I think they do a tremendous job.
Our conversations tend to trend toward the sarcastic and cynical a bit, but it only takes a few minutes to realize that a bunch of genuine, caring people are behind them... they just don't tolerate idiots, is all. If you're just looking for some tech help, we're happy to be of assistance. If you're looking to learn about tech, you've found the right place.
One of the things that makes this place different is our Folding@Home team. They're using their spare computer power to do computation-intensive research for Stanford University in the hopes of finding cures for protein-related diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and some forms of cancer. We also feature events affecting the site and the lives of our members in the Icrontic Events forum and store threads that have shaped our community in the History Room.
