P4 HT + win2k question

I was told that under win2k hyperthreading doesn't work. I was also told that although it doesn't work, it still detects 2 logical CPU's. Would using win2k hurt my folding production at all? I am going to do a fresh install coming up pretty soon (after I do my vcore mod) and I would like to use win2k. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

w2k detects the virtual processor, but does not offer performance enhancments. XP should give some performance gains.

How much of a gain (for folding only)? I would really like to use 2k, if the difference isn't that much. If XP folds ALOT faster or even mildly faster, then I will stay with it.

You could always strip down XP pretty close to w2k.
I don't know how much gain you will get b/c I only use XP for HT machines.
