Hello all!

I need your help again. I've run adaware and spybot scans on my daughter's computer. The computer is running very slow. I've pasted the HJT log below.

Would you please review the log and tell me what files/entries I need to fix?

Thanks again for your help!!!!

While the hpwis URLs aren't spyware sites, per se, do you really want HP controlling everything on this PC? I'm recommend removing them and using a home page/search site of your own choosing. HP has become almost as bad as the spyware people.

Delete the following in safe mode:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://us9.hpwis.com/
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://srch-us9.hpwis.com/
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://srch-us9.hpwis.com/
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://srch-us9.hpwis.com/
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://login.passport.net/uilogin.srf?id=2
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://us9.hpwis.com/
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://srch-us9.hpwis.com/

ewwww.... Kazaa=bad news. It's just a haven for viruses. There are better P2P programs out there.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AltnetPointsManager] C:\Program Files\Altnet\Points Manager\Points Manager.exe -s
    Spyware installed with Kazaa

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MsnMsgr] "C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe" /background
Delete this if your daughter doesn't use MSN Messenger.

Well, that should do it. Reboot after cleaning and repost the newest log. Please remove Kazaa from your daughter's machine. It's just inviting trouble.

just keep in mind that if its your daughters PC, you essentially just broke Kazaa and her ability to pirate music. while this may seem like a good thing to you, shes going to go right ahead and reinstall kazaa, bringing back a bunch of that adware. just let her know what shes doing
