Help with my Hijack This Logfile Please!

Hello, I am a new member to the forum, and am delighted to have found this place, as much of the advice has helped me out a lot already! Thankyou for providing this community...it's the best one I have come across in my search for answers.

I have two main problems that I am aware of. One is CWS Searchx, which I am unable to remove, despite running Adaware, Spybot and AVG Antivirus. CW Shredder will remove it temporarily, but it always come back...I am assuming I have a visible and a hidden .dll file which causes it to return.

The other major problem I have has been detected by AVG Antivirus. It classifies the problem as 'Backdoor Agent.BA' and it is always associated with the same .dll file (kbdlkdk.dll) I can't even locate this file in the folder specified, even with the folder options set to show all hidden files, and to show protected operating system files. I have not attempted to remove it in safe mode yet, as if I can't find it, I can't remove it, right? AVG is unable to heal, quarantine, or delete the .dll file associated with the Backdoor Trojan.

Another problem, which may be unrelated...is that I can no longer open Notepad. I can still open new notepad .txt files, and save them as .txt, but when I go to open the .txt file I always have to open it with wordpad as Notepad will not read them. AVG found a trojan in notepad.exe and removed it from my computer, and now when I try to open a .txt file, it says that windows cannot locate notepad.exe. Any help with that would be great as well, as it is really annoying.

One other thing that is worth mentioning is that I don't have Windows Update turned on...I had a bad experience with updating Windows in the past, and decided that I would rather do without Windows updates. However, given the state of the computer at the moment I am considering putting on SP2...I have heard good things about it, and was wondering if anyone could let me know what they think of it?

I really need help!
Thankyou in advance, and sorry if this post has been a bit lengthy with the description of problems!

Here is my HijackThis log (taken after a run of Spybot and Adaware)

Thanks very much for your help and quick response to this!

I did as you said, and fixed the entries above. I then tried to find and delete the files you specified, first in Normal Mode, and then in Safe Mode. I successfully deleted:

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\wobufim.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\iuacilu.dll

The others were unlocatable, in both modes using Windows Search option...with Hidden Files showing, and Protected System Files showing. I rebooted, and used HJT to scan for a new log.

Also, when I scanned again today to remove the suggested entries, the following entry had changed slightly..It was this yesterday:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {175B941C-A133-D10A-046A-EC4EDED769D3} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\wobufim.dll

    But today it was:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {175B941C-A133-D10A-046A-EC4EDED769D3} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\euhiiei.dll

I also could not locate the above .dll in either mode.

Here are the results of the latest scan after the HJT fix and removal of the .dll's I could find.

As an afterthought, I also still have the Backdoor Trojan, despite the HJT fix.

Thankyou so much for helping me out with this.

Your log looks okay. Are you still having problems?
  • edited October 2004
Well, I'm not totally sure...yes my computer is having problems...but I am unsure if they are spyware/virus related.

My main problem is this trojan I have...I have now installed Zone Alarm, and the trojan seems to be blocked. Only thing is....should I be allowing Yahoo Messenger and MSN messenger to act as a server program? I have no idea what that means...I disallowed yahoo, and it seems to work fine..I am still allowing MSN to act as a server program...could this be the way the trojan accesses the internet?

Also, the other program that asks for server rights is Limewire...but that would have to to be allowed in order for it to function properly?

Sorry that this isn't related to my HJT logfile...do you think it would be worth scanning and posting a log from today just to see if my problems have gone or returned?

Thankyou for being so helpful...and sorry for being such a dunce!

You should not use Limewire, or any other P2P program. It is probably the source of your spyware. SO uninstall Limewire, and post a new log.
