Help me fix my 16 port hub?

I've got a NetGear DS116 10/100 16 port hub. I bought it "factory reconditioned" off EBay for $20-$30. It was running 24x7 for about 3 weeks, 3-4 ports active, and the 16th port utilized as an uplink port.

Sometime last night, it quit working. I power cycled it, and discovered that, when powered back up, all the LED's on the front of it light up and stay that way, except ports 8 and 16, which stay dark.

This hub was my link between my network and my cable modem. I dropped in a 4 port hub to keep the basics (SM14, Tivo, my PC) connected to the net, but I'd love to be able to fix my 16 port hub. Anyone seen this before, or know how to fix it? I left it unplugged overnight, no effect.

If the best answer is toss it and buy again, I'll grudgingly have to do that. Thanks!

Bill

First I'd woner if Netgear even reconditions their own stuff. Call Netgear and ask them about it. Also tell them about the problem, as it's possible what you're seeing is some kind of error code.

If you can't fix or replace it, I'd pitch it and replace it with a switch.
