Slave or Master

I am going with my dad tommorrow to buy my motherboard and processor combo and i think that i am ready to build it but i am confused about one thing the CD-R/RW and the hard drive. I dont which one i should be which slave or master and i dont quite understand the slave and master concept. Also the Motherboard and Processor i am getting is this one http://shop1.outpost.com/product/4321815 (I hope this link works, and if it doesn't then i will post the info in the next post)
they dont seem to support Ultra ATA hard drive, will my Ultra ATA harddrive work with it???
You can probably tell that i am a first time builder and i am in middle school so give me some credit

    4 x Ultra DMA133/100/66 devices this is just another name for ATA or Ultra ATA

    so the HD should be fine

    IMO if you only have two drives set then to masters on their own IDE slots

    if you are using the 80 pin cables use the black ends in the drives and the blue on the motherboard
