Most of the sequences come compressed in RAR format, so you'll first need a program that can decompress RAR files.

Sega Genesis:

1. Choose a suitable GYM file player here, or download one of the WINAMP plugins avilable on the same page.

2. Download one of dozens of game soundtracks in RAR format here.

SNES

1. Choose a suitable SPC file player, or one of the WINAMP plugins available here.

2. Download from among hundreds of game soundtracks here

Playstation

1. Choose a suitable PSF file player or WINAMP plugin here.

2. Download from several soundtracks here.

Playstation 2

1. You will need the Highly Experimental WINAMP plugin to play PSF2 files.

2. Currently there are only 2 PSF2 soundtracks available which can be downloaded at the same site above where the PSF tracks are.

Why would you bother with these? Because the sound fidelity and quality is about the same as the CD OST's, but the file sizes are vastly smaller than the MP3's.

For example the entire FF6 soundtrack occupies I think 3 CD's, but the RAR compressed files of the entire sountrack in SPC format is only a little more than 402KB.

The entire soundtrack for FF7, which occupies 4 CD's normally, is only 828KB.

FF9's soundtrack (which uses much better samples than FF7) is 24.5MB for the entire soundtrack which normall occupies 4 CD's.

The soundtrack for FFX on Playstation 2 weighs in at 48.9MB for 93 tracks.

Zophar.net also has other video game music archives and players available, just check out the Game Music section.
