Help Setting Up Folding

I'm sorry this is long, but wanted to give y'all as much information as I could so hopefully someone can help me get folding again on this computer.

I had to reformat my hard drive and am trying to get folding again on this computer. However, I forgot to create a folding directory before I downloaded the no-nonsense version from stanford. So I deleted the files and work folder, created a directory named folding, saved the no-nonsense version to that folder, and clicked on the file in that folder to set up folding as a service.

Thought everything was working ok, but this morning this is what my FAH log says:

The program will continue in non-service mode now, working in C:\Folding.
The next time the computer is starts up, you should see work automatically
continue there. Note that when this service is running, you should not try
to manually run F@H from that directory at the same time.

Well, I couldnt find a folder by that name so I deleted all the files in my folding subdirectory and figured I'd go to the stanford site and start the download process again. However, when I check task manager it still shows FahCore_78.exe System at 99. I clicked end process and it started again. I clicked end process tree and it started again.

Is it running somewhere else? I can't find the FahCore_78 file.

It's hard living in a gigabyte world with only a kilobyte mind!! ;D

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Chip

Did you click on 'Save' or 'Open' when downloading the client? I dont know why its looking in your TIFs. The folder is there, you just can access/view it.

Where does the service say the folder is running? Is it on your desktop?

The first time I clicked run.....then when I deleted those files and started again, I clicked save and saved it to my folding subdirectory and clicked on the file saved in that folder to set up the service.

I just typed start run services.msc and it showed me two folding services...I changed both from automatic to disabled. I then deleted the C:\folding directory and created a C:\F@H directory. I then went back to stanford and saved the no-nonsense version in that folder...clicked on the saved file to set up the service.

Here is the recent FAH log:

Well its running, but you ran into something else this time.

Here is a the same error that someone else had:
    http://forum.folding-community.org/viewtopic.php?t=6876&highlight=c0000005
The actual error C0000005 occurred twice. That is a report from the operating system that there has been an illegal memory access.

There are a number of things to look for, but it is a hardware problem of some kind. The first thing I would look for is occasional memory errors. Run a good memory diagnostic for a long time. (The most commonly used one is memtest86, but others work too.) Second, check that you don't have a problem with overheating. It's not uncommon for dust to accumulate in your heatsink or, if the fans have been turning for a few years, for a fan to fail. In some cases, overclocking may be the problem, so set things back to normal and see what happens. There are other possibilities, but your computer is not running correctly.

Might want to check for those things.

Thanks, I'll run memtest. I ran it last week over night for about 12 hours and had no errors. I just had the computer serviced, cleaned, and upgraded the ram from 512 to 768. I haven't run memtest on the new stick of 512.
