D-Link and Skype have introduced a USB adapter which allows users to communicate over the popular VOIP service using their standard corded and cordless telephones, a move which could woo many users who find the concept of conversations through their PC microphones and speakers too cumbersome. The technology will be on display at each company's respective booths at CES 2006 in Las Vegas, which begins this Thursday.
"At D-Link, we know that the digital home is all about integration and ease-of-use," said Keith Karlsen, executive vice president, D-Link. "By extending Skype to be accessible through traditional phones, we can make the benefits of Skype even easier to experience."
