SATARaid Could not create or open SATARaid's key

I get this error everytime that I boot-up my system:

"SATARaid

Could not create or open SATARaid's key!

Default values will be used"

And after I have clicked the OK, another pop-up dialogue appears which says:

"SATARaid

Event logger could
not be created"

And I OK this to close the Warning dialogue.

When I first put this system together, from components, it never used to display these error messages. Then at some point, this system began to.

Anyone know what is causing these 'start-up' error messages?
And, do you know the fix for them?

This two errors appear when you log in with an account that does not have administrators access.

To resolve each of the errors without giving the user adminstrator access.

Log in with the admistrators account and follow these steps. These steps will not give the user administrators access but will allow the SATARaid program the required access to the log file and registry sections.

    1. Disable "Use simple file sharing (Recommended)"

******** type=text/javascript>loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation');*********>To disable simple file sharing, follow these steps: <TABLE class="list ol"><TBODY><TR><TD class=number>a.</TD><TD class=text>Click Start, and then click My Computer.</TD></TR><TR><TD class=number>b.</TD><TD class=text>On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.</TD></TR><TR><TD class=number>c.</TD><TD class=text>In the Advanced Settings section, clear the Use simple file sharing (Recommended) check box.
    </TD></TR><TR><TD class=number>d.</TD><TD class=text>Click OK.

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>2. Run regedit and go to the key
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Silicon Image

    3. Right Click and select permissions.

    4. Give either the user or the group that the user belongs to (eg users or power users) full control. This will only givefull control to this key

    5. Exit regedit

    6. Right click the SATARaid icon in the tool bar.

    7. Select Configure, this will display the configuration menu.

    8. Select the log file tab. Take note of the filename and path. Then click OK

    9. Go to the path for the log file and find the log file.

    10. Right click the file and select properties.

    11. Select the security tab, tick allow for the user or the users group the permissions write, modify, read and read and execute Click OK.

    12. Log in as the user and you should not get the error messages.

    Hello cheethamb,

Thanks for replying to my posted question.

I posted soooooo long ago and had not got any suggested solutions that I'd given up and forgotten that I'd made this post -- although I still get the SATA Raid error.

I shall try out your advice over the next four days. And I will post to this thread the outcome of this.

    In the meantime, thanks again.:)

    Hi Jay,

I had noticed how long ago that you had posted your message. I came across yours and a few other messages when I was trying to solve this issue for myself.

So after plodding through and resolving my problem, I decided what the heck, I'll post my suggestion for a solution and maybe someone can use it.

    Anyway, Goodluck with it.

    Cheethamb,

Yes, sometimes it works out in this way.

And I hope not to waste your good advice as I carry it out.
