Hi Guys/Gals,

I'm wondering if you can help me. I've been asked a question by a friend who wants to know a proper descriptive term of an old type of software.

The question I was asked is...

"old programmes that you used to use in libraries - one where you use the F keys a lot and not really the mouse at all - Is there a proper descriptive term is for that kind of program?"

If anyone knows if there is a real term for this type of software?

Any help would be appreciated! :)

I got informed by another boffin that it could be any of the below:

    CLI - Command Line Interface
    TUI - Text User Interface
    Prompt Program
    Shell
    Terminal (as Thrax said)
    DOS program

According to the wise and wonderful Wiki, I think the one I am looking for is TUI (Text User Interface) as per here

I have, I think I've managed to catch him up, however that is only by counting together all the posts on all the forums I'm on! ;)
