I was watching a guy in one of my CS classes...looked freaking sweet. Scarier than FEAR I would say no unless there is some extremely creepy sounds happening, the kind of effects in FEAR that made you afraid to always turn a blind corner. The creatures you battle are your standard tentacle humanish weirdo things, not that scary from the 7 or so that were in the stages this kid was in. The most impressive thing seemed to be if there is no gravity you can shoot yourself around and you have some mag boots. I am going to pick this one up over Farcy2 and Fallout because it looks like such a good FPS thrill ride.
What you do is find someone playing a game like this and then, while they are fully absorbed in the game, start tapping and scratching on their windows. We did that to a kid who was playing Doom3 in the dark with full surround sound and he flipped out.

I beat it on easy and "impossible" mode (which is unlocked after beating the game on any difficulty)
impossible mode is so much better, a lot harder, and there for way more scary.
with the plasma cutter upgraded all the way, it takes 4 hits to take off one limb of the enemy.

Story is supposedly very well written and executed.
I'm waiting to finish up far cry 2 and Mass effect before I pick it up.
