Boot screen borked. Halp!

Allo,

Right, I have XP on my first HDD, and I had a spare which I installed W7 on. Everything was fine, except HDD2 was getting some problems with things getting corrupted and having to reinstall W7... again, and again. Eventually I got fed up when it became unusable and unplugged it (with the power off :P). Now when I boot up I get a dual boot screen, still. I cant get rid of it. Nothing in the bios and the boot.ini file (as far as I can see) doesnt show anything wrong.

;
;Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
;Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options.
;
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT

I cant use any of the options on the boot screen because it crashes if I select anything other than An Older Version of Windows.

Help appreciated, this thing's really damn irritating :p

    Are there 2 partitions on the drive?

    Check disk management under the management snapin.

    Nope. One drive with one partition.

    What am I looking for in disk management?

    There has to be something else there, you can't get a Dual boot without it reading something different than what you have posted. Everything looks fine.

    Are you sure there are not 2 Boot.ini files?

    You are looking for 2 partitions.. 1 is the active partition, probably the largest one, and the other will be smaller.

    See attachment.. I have 3 partitions on Disk 0

    Just ran a search. There's the boot.ini I pasted and a boot.ini.backup and thats it. The backup is:

    ;
    ;Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
    ;Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options.
    ;

    Your Windows XP hard disk contains a Windows 7 MBR as master boot records are installed to the first sectors of the primary master HDD.

    Go to the Windows XP recovery console and type:
    Fixboot
    Fixmbr

    Restart your PC and you'll be fine.

    Nope, its all showing as one, big, blue block. I'll try Thrax's solution in a few minutes.
