Calling Turkey Pictures

Hey everyone!

I am in argentina and I will be far, far away from my family and friends. In addition to that suckiness, I will not be eating thanksgiving dinner. No turkey, no cranberries, no stuffing. Oh I just welled up a little with the thought of a stuffingless thanksgiving.

You guys can help by posting a favorite pic of your awesome thanksgivings! The bird itself, your favorite side, your food baby, your happy face stuffed full of delicious awesomeness, wine, beer, family and friends happy and thankful.

If you have a turkey day shot, post it for those of us who are away!

PS - I am thankful for meeting icrontic this year :)

My friends bailed on me and I've spent the day alone on campus.

Had a sweet donut for breakfast, though.

Ryder: I hope you had a GREAT thanksgiving! You know what you CAN do for me... you can describe IN DETAIL how delicious the stuffing was. Only then I will forgive you.

Shwaip: I love you so much. I really miss you, and I wish I could have been there. The pictures are perfect :) Thank you!

Pictures are overrated. :D It just interrupts the experience. We had a great dinner at Brian's parents' place with his sister and aunt despite there no pictures to record the experience. ;)

Eep... I was going to do this as well and completely failed. It was one of the biggest gatherings of my family in years. The house was simply packed and there was SO MUCH FOOD. My sweet potato souffle got completely demolished (even the kids liked it). I'm going to have to make a double batch next year.

We make 2 different types of stuffing every year, this year made it easier since we cooked 2 Turkeys. Normally we just make 1 of them in a bowl. But we were able to cook each inside a bird this yar.
My father's family used to always put Oysters in with the stuffing, so this continues in my family and if you like them, it really adds a unique flavor to the stuffing. Both of them turned out really well, moist and flavorful.

We also had fruit salad, acorn squash, sweet potatoes, creamed corn casserole, scalloped oysters (another fav of my grandmother (dad's mom), my dad, and myself), cranberry sauce, homemade biscuits and gravy, and turkey, of course.

    For dessert:
Apple trifle, consisting of apples (sauteed with sugar until firm, but no longer "crisp"), vanilla pudding, whip cream, and pumpkin cake/graham crackers/cinammon mixture. All those were alternating layers in a big glass bowl (so yummy). Pumpkin, pecan, and apple pies.

Jump ahead about 6 hours later after some napping/football/socializing and we had supper as well.
I deep fried a turkey. My aunt brought Italian beef and sausage from Chicago to make sandwiches. Shrimp, veggies, spinach dip (with pumpernickel bread) and 2 kinds of homeade cheesecake for dessert (they put 40 candles on one of them, made me blow them out).

Hope that helps (or at least makes you hungry ;) )

Haha... sounds like you're family outdoes mine just a bit Ryder. Our spread is quite impressive as well though. We have a ton of starters because we usually eat late (around 4 pm this year), including venison sausage from the deer my uncle takes if possible, crab dip and crackers, french onion dip, chips and homemade salsa, usually spinach dip but I didn't see any this year, I got to the app table late though so I may have missed it. For our main feast we had 1 full turkey, 1 turkey breast, an 18lb. ham, a massive amount of both stuffing and mashed potatoes, ambrosia salad, green bean casserole, corn souffle, sweet potato souffle, cranberry sauce (of course), I think there was salad somewhere.... I lost track of all the food to be honest. Dessert was pie. Oh so many pies. Pumpkin, pecan, mincemeat, cherry, lemon meringue, chocolate, all so tasty. Then after dessert comes the Irish Coffee. The perfect way to push everyone over the edge from groggy into full blown ZZZzZzZzZzZzz. Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I hear a ham sandwich calling my name.
