Cores, and Vista64

I would really like to play System Shock 2 (1999) on my machine. The game was intended for Windows 95/98 and it will not work on dual core or quad core processors.
The problems:

*I'm running on Vista64bit
*I have a quad core processor

Patches exist which allow for play on Vista (however there are many articles online where users report frequent crashes). I still can't find out if 64 bit is compatible (I'm assuming it is). I can't find a way to just run on 1 core in my bios. Basically I need to turn off all cores except 1.

Any advice on how I should go about doing this? Ironically enough my machine is too "advanced" (if you would dare to call vista advanced) to play the game:(

Thanks in advance!

Try this. Reboot after you set it. Uncheck it and reboot to reset to defaults.

Another option would be to use VM software to boot a Win95 image and set it up to use only 1 core then install the game in there. Depends on your specs.
