I am conflicted. I enjoy the community that revolves around the pony stream but it seems every time a non-pony episode (10+ min video) of some sort comes on, the community divides. A subset watches the video while the rest either drudge through it or alt+tab to a game or surfing. Most of the time the person who added it turns defensive as soon as anyone says something negative about it.
Just an observation, could just be me. Not saying anything about The AquaBats. I've had friends big into them. Not my thing. I had a blast watching pony videos and short little virals last night. TBH I muted synctube and played some Mincraft while the Aquabats episode was on. I had Vent still on, silent. My interest in staying up was lost far before I was even told there was only 3 minutes left.
I'm sad that I missed the stream last night as always I'm sure that it was a lot of fun and I have to admit I was a little interested in the Aquabats show.
I had just been having a crappy day up until the end of work and by the time I got home I didn't want to do anything but go to bed.
Summary quote "Dang where is Ilriyas? We've been through two episodes. Both with Rarity and neither have Dash. Plus Sweet and Elite is coming up too." And it turns out you actually were asleep? We even got to turn that on Lynx last night, and it's jumped to you before we changed it in the first place? Time paradox!
On a serious note, I do hope your feeling better. Must be Spring setting in. People be hurtin'.
As for the Aquabats, I watched it with an open mind and did enjoy it. It just felt really out of place. Most non-pony things do in that stream. Also I did check them out when Hammy mentioned them before. A few songs are even part of my playlist now.
I honestly don't know whats wrong beyond the fact that I've been incapable of writing anything work-related, hell even drawing for the past two weeks. I'm guessing it reached a crescendo yesterday because I'm feeling slightly better now, still can't get anything productive on paper but at least I don't feel like shit anymore.

@bhhammy it really isn't fault of the Aquabats show, but it's exactly as @bobbydigi noted. We simply cannot put non pony stuff in these streams. We've tried many times, and every single time it fails. It's the main reason why Canti and I gave up on trying to show some Space Ghost Coast to Coast episodes (and those are shorter than 10 minutes, usually). Everybody shows up to these streams for one thing and one thing only.
Don't take offense to it. I laughed at the aquabats. I get that kind of humor. But it's definitely not for everyone, and certainly not the people that show up for pony streams. People just want to switch their minds off, have a drink, and watch some pony.
It is really funny that @ilriyas missed this stream. We didn't realize until the end of the second episode that we had just dished out two episodes with Rarity and zero Dash. You would have lost your mind and started building signs all over your minecraft house again.
Holy crap it's like you guys know what I'm going to bring up before I even read the thread. Space Ghost is pretty much the perfect example of what will/did happen with the Aquabats show. If I had been paying more attention I could have told you this sooner. The Aquabats show will not become popular in pony streams. It simply will not happen. The reason being the same as why Space Ghost was a one time thing. It's niche humor and most people won't get into it. This doesn't mean that SGC2C wasn't one of the greatest things ever put on tv (because it was). It just means that it won't do well in one of our streams because people can't appreciate it and their sense of humor is wrong. It's ok, I forgive them. You can think of the Aquabats show the same way.
That's fine. I didn't mind -so- much that people didn't like it (The "I don't know what an Aquabat is, but I hate them now" comment WAS a little unnecessary though). I -was- kind of raging about the whole "comparing it to Tim and Eric" thing because not only is it an insult, but it's -wrong-. Kind of a pet peeve.
To put it in perspective, it's kind of like saying MLP:FiM is like that Strawberry Shortcake show that preceeds ponies on saturdays before the new ep (ugh).
I guess I get the non-pony-stream thing, though. Looks like I need to start doing non-pony streams on the side, if I can actually get people to show up.
I had a grand ol' time. Up until the sad stuff, and then I went and cried and texted my sister. Piano Man fucks me up if I'm not around the right people.
And Hammy, I love you, but chill. They're not the same thing, but there are many similar aspects, and those caused me to draw a parallel: middle-aged chunky men running around in outfits I'd rather not see them in being absurd in a manner typically reserved for cartoons shot with that particular cinematic style. No, the writing style isn't the same; I don't expect anyone to write like Eric Wareheim or fuck it up like Tim Heidecker (that was a joke). So yes, I voiced that comparison, and no, I'm not apologizing for it.
I do appreciate you sharing it with us, and I really don't mind it being in a pony stream. I'll probably even watch later episodes just to see what it's like post-trailer. I'd even be down with us sync-tubing it, but not in a pony stream as most people seem opposed to that. I think I suggested doing that to you, and I'm sorry if it caused anguish.
In fact, considering there's so many other random shows that we would love to share as a community, why don't we do other, non-pony streams from time to time for just that sort of thing? I've a feeling we'd get decent turnout.
Great stream, hearty lulz and fine booze where had, there were even some ponies IIRC.
Ilriyas is smalltime for not being there, we had the perfect pro-rarity crowd and episodes to help him fully embrace the most fabulous poni and he flakes out. Clearly, the dude still can't handle dat Rarity.
Yes, sadly yesterday we found Lynx love for Vinyl Scratch was just a cover up, his true intentions lie with Dat Royal Flank and ruler of Equestria: Princess Molestia.

FU I can't handle Rarity! I'm legitimately sad that I missed out on all the fabulous poni.

Also this because it's awesome and I'm to lazy to go into the image thread + related to Rarity.
Now I have two characters with which to kick Cola's ass in Fighting is Magic
[X] Rainbow Dash
[X] Rarity

Then we had something....darker.
