[BLOG] Music From Yesteryear
So, I finished watching the clips from The Hunt for Gollum on Dailymotion and I see a link for Cat Stevens. I clicked on it and watched an old video from some 70's live performance. Man... I haven't heard him in a while. I continued to watch every song they had listed even some of his "Yusuf Islam" concerts.
What this did was yank my mind to the songs I grew up to... Cat Stevens, Harry Chapin, Journey, Kansas, Chicago, Jim Croce, James Taylor, etc. I get flashes of my childhood, of my late mother, of the needle touching the album, all of it coming to me while listening (watching) to the songs.
I was born in the mid 70's but my parents were very into the music scene of the 60/70's so I was raised on the Folk singers. I remember when my mom came home crying when Harry Chapin died in the car accident. I remember how ticked off my dad was when Cat Stevens changed his name and converted to Islam.
So, my question to you all... What songs/ songwriters bring back your childhood?
BTW... Cat Stevens, Harry Chapin were the #1 artists. <object width="480" height="381">
