It is more than one bug. It looks like THIS happens when trying to edit. First, all content and the DB pointer string IDing where the content was is lost. Second, a box opens, but you cannot get a paragraphing of text to take if you edit-- on save the paragraphing is lost if one tries to recreate a message in the edit box.
  • I'm having the above issue with editing...but not with editing the first post in a thread, which seems to be working fine. Case in point...
  • primesuspectprimesuspect HumanGarbageDisposal Detroit, MI Icrontian
    guys...

we know what's wrong. No need to try to sherlock holmes it. It'll be fixed soon :)
  • Straight_ManStraight_Man Geeky, in my own way Punta Gorda, FL Icrontian
Ok, thanks. Please soon.... Troubleshooting computers I can do with enough information, but guessing about bugs is weird for me. But the editing thing is driving me nuts absent deletes available.

    Editing works again.

Announcements makes the "mark all read" button go away. There is also no way to remove the announcement (iirc there used to be an x in the top right corner to close it). Also, as @Lincoln now is aware of, you can't refollow a category you've previously unfollowed.

When adding a new thread, the following message appears, and the site seems to freeze. The new thread is successfully made, but I'd still thought I'd let you know. It appeared when posting my "Chrome help" thread.

@Jokke Has that happened more than once? I can't make it do that.
  • JokkeJokke Nuvsvaag, Norway Icrontian
It happened only once. Using Firefox. I tried to edit my previous post with additional info, but the post was too long. When i say the site freezes it's not completely true. The comment window grays out, and the links below the comment window doesn't seem to do anything, but retyping icrontic.com in the address bar got me back to the main site, where my thread was successfully made.

I just tried adding a new thread, no weird message. So far seems like a random, one-time deal. I did not clear my cache between these two attempt, but I will proceed to do so now, just to stay on the safe side.
@lincoln please delete my test thread, sorry for the inconvenience.

    1) Supermods don't have permissions in the GW2 forum

    2) Stickying a thread duplicates it, but deleting the duplicate deletes both.

Fixed, mostly because there is no more "supermod" role. There's admins, community leaders, and gaming leaders. You're a community leader, which didn't have permissions in that forum. I fixed it.

You guys referring to the fact that it lists the announcement as an announcement at the top of the page but then also lists the post in the regular timelined list of posts?

Notifications used to clear just by going to one's user profile activity page (by clicking on your username in the upper right). For the notification I just received for a badge I had to go to http://icrontic.com/profile/notifications (done by first going to profile as above, and then clicking the notifications link under the image on the left) before the notification would go away.

In long private conversations, the previous text can be completely hidden behind the "show older messages" link. Not a serious issue, just slightly annoying.

It also appears that user titles are not updating when changed.
  • SnarkasmSnarkasm 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands Icrontian
That was a previous bug as well.

There's also no space (at least on dark theme) between the user title and the user... ranks, I guess? I.e. Jimmy's looks like

    What a dickSupporter, Gaming Leader

    And Cannon's:

    EnginerdMember, Supporter

While it also happens to be true that Jimmy is a major dick supporter and Cannon is an enginerd's member, I think these were unintended happy consequences of a small bug.

    Says 'The PhotographerMember, Supporter'

I didn't know there was a market for member supporters specifically for photographers ;-)

(It's happening on default theme also)

Here's a transcript (out of laziness) of a message i sent to Brian:
Unsure who i have to inform about this, but since the change of the ic site (achievements thing-ima-bob), it's messy when viewed on iphone (and prob other device, ima try on my psp for fun later). I cant imagine im the only icrontian viewing this on my phone. To be clear, so far it seems to be only the profile pages that are messy.

Not sure what you mean by "messy"... the "Reactions" portion of the site is pretty bad on my phone when in portrait mode (The reaction counts overlap each other quite a bit), but everything looks fine otherwise. Also, it looks just fine in landscape.

Not sure what you mean by "messy"... the "Reactions" portion of the site is pretty bad on my phone when in portrait mode (The reaction counts overlap each other quite a bit), but everything looks fine otherwise. Also, it looks just fine in landscape.

yeah overlapping and such... i'm never in landscape, for some reason. even if typing like mad or surfing from the bar, i'm always in portrait (easier to type with one hand and drink with the other!)

"Mark all viewed" isn't clearing read tags again. I've hard refreshed many times. Dark theme.

Came in here to report same. For me, it's clearing some but not others.

Yup, reported as a bug. I updated Vanilla with the bleeding-edge develop version yesterday to test some performance upgrades, and it looks like that broke in the process.

I've got a inbox notification that doesn't have a corresponding message actually in my inbox. Same issue?

@Tushon Don't believe so. I've seen a rare bug like that in the past. If it sticks around let me know and I'll fix it for you manually.

    "Mark All Viewed" is fixt.

I still have it after a cache clear. Maybe someone sent me a message then deleted it before I read it, as I even attempted to go in and read the last few old messages to see if it cleared from one of those. Not sure. I also have an observation. If I read an article, like @BobbyDigi's piece on the moon game, it still appears as if I have not read it causing me to open it multiple times as I ctrl-click through new threads. Not a big deal, but not sure if you were aware. I can explain more thoroughly if that isn't clear.

I think that's a WP/Vanilla bridge issue - posts created from WP have a timestamp in the future, when you couldn't have seen it. A certain number of minutes or hours later, it falls down/can be marked read, etc.

Inbox bug still around, and I just tried to flag a spammer in chrome ... and it renders the window as a very small box in which only the X is clickable.

@Lincoln, would you mind manually clearing that bad inbox notification?
