My server broke, need repairs and suggestions

So a server I happened to get second-hand, has died. According to my IT friend that currently houses it on the floor of his closet, the raid controller has gone kaput. He can probably fix it no problems, but he is lazier than I am so I tend to have to do more of the pre-footwork for repairs and get things shipped to his house.

Now personally I am Jon Snow (I know nothing) about raid controllers, so I don't know anything about compatibility or performance or whatevers about them.

That is the controller he had linked, since we had already put 200-300 in memory and processor upgrades on it, we don't have the motivation to drop much more money on it now.

Should I keep looking for a better one, does anyone have a spare I can buy off them? I'd really like to get it up and running again for Starbound/Cube World/Porn Host/On-Demand TF2 Server

if you run linux, just get a non-raid controller set up a zfs pool, imo.
