Now that I finally have Internet at home working, I ran a new test. About what I expected. Sometime between when I made an offer on my house and when I moved in something changed making it so I could only get the basic DSL service instead of the 6M elite service at my address. Oh well, I'm paying about half what I was for Comcast so I'll live with it until a faster tier is available

Managed to get AT&T to up my service. Still paying around half what I was for comcast in my old apartment. Not the 6M tier I was hoping for but better than the 768kbps I had when I first moved in. Plus it's the fastest home connection I've ever had (with the exception of when I was living in the dorms at college).

Just signed up for 4G service from Clear for my tablet. Supposed to be 6/1, but this is the fastest I've seen so far:

Still not too shabby. $40/month, no contract, unlimited usage.

If they're claiming 6Mb, and you're getting that close to 5, you're doing pretty well. A lot of it's dependent upon the server and the routes the data needs to take. Try a couple of different testing locations, and you'll find that things vary quite a bit.

Tested today from the same 4 locations around the metroplex and I'm getting up to 5.75Mbps down. Slowest was 2.75Mbps. I'm happy either way. This is so much faster than tethering to 3G.

Switched from WideOpenWest to AT&T, not thrilled at all about my experience so far, but the primary reason we switched is here in hard numbers:

Yep... I mentioned that AT&T customer service isn't the greatest, but when it comes to getting the advertised speed, I've yet to find anyone that delivers like they do.

That's because nobody but AT&T has dedicated bandwidth in those speed brackets in Michigan. :)

This thread makes me realize how pathetic the broadband in the US is. I need to convince my company to open a data center in Europe and then transfer me there.
