I reloaded the server jar again (downloaded new one) and it just errors when it starts.

    Severe errors.

I have a new vanilla minecraft server set up and ready. How about you just make the backup now and we will finish moving it over?

Ok... is yours running ok? Strange that it would be if mine is erroring, but I will get started on the upload.

Yeah, mine started up and is running just fine with the backup that you gave me earlier this week in place. Hopefully the world on your server isn't corrupted or something.

No, it is not the world, it is giving Java errors, etc.

Did you delete the minecraft_server.jar on that install so that Hey0 would update it?

That might be why you are running fine. You have to edit the .SH file and start minecraft_server.jar instead of minecraft_mod.jar to run it "vanilla".

    Anyway, upload in progress.

I wiped the whole test server install out and did a fresh vanilla install then modified my init script to start the vanilla server.

hrm... I seem to be having problems with this backup. It might be a few before I get the server online.

Is it possible to request a version with signs, too?

it looks like the level.dat file is missing from the archive file.

it looks like the level.dat file is missing from the archive file.

and WinRAR throws an error about an unexpected end to the archive.

I think you got a bad download. I have level.dat and didn't get any errors when extracting on my Windows laptop. The unrar tools for Linux, however, absolutely hated that archive both times I downloaded it directly to the server.

Okay, finally managed to get the world imported after extracting on my windows box and uploading via sftp.

    /me shakes fist at rar

Anyway, server is up and running now. We're running vanilla at the moment. I'll get bukkit up and running as soon as it's feasible to do so. In the meantime, I'm scheduling an automated backup of the world at 12 noon EST every day in case any griefers get in and ruin our shit. In that case, I will revert to the most current good backup.

There are random chunks misplaced everywhere, this is not the correct world.

Bugger... I'm going to need ryder to up a new backup then (preferably in zip/7z/tar.gz format, not rar) because that was a clean extract and upload.

    On a side note...

I'm not opposed to starting from scratch and building better. I kind of doubt anyone else but the newest to the server would want to do that though. Hah!

It's just be nice to get lapis lazuli in all the chunks, which is going to be hard to do now, because the world is so big.

Just random mutterings, is all. :)
