Expo 2013 Homebrew thread

EPIC 2013 is just over four months away, which means it's time to prepare.

This past weekend I brewed up two batches which are now fermenting:

The first is a British-style mild brown ale with a starting gravity of 1.032. It's going to be a low alcohol beer, great for not getting smashed.

The second... I shall leave a mystery for now. Let's just say it will settle an argument.

These two batches will join two other brews already completed:
- An unusual Saison: dark, slightly sweet, moderate alcohol. It made an appearance at Expo 2012 and will return this year.
- Barleywine: This is from the same batch that showed up at ICOK 2012...It's been bottle aging all this time.

More varieties are planned. I'll update as they progress.
--------------------------------------------------------
Status
- Dark Saison: Bottled & Ready
- Barleywine: Bottled & Ready (Aging since September 2012)
- Mild Brown Ale: Bottled & Ready
- ?????: Bottled & Ready
- Honey-Ginger Saison: Bottled & Ready
- ????? #2: Bottled & Ready
- ????? #3: Bottled & Ready
- India Dark Ale: Secondary
- Modelo Dark Lager: Primary fermenter
- Farmhouse Biere de Table:
- Dundalk Irish Heavy:

Edit: Moved to Events thread
Edit 2: Added status for each batch in production

Another batch has gone to primary fermentation: This one is an attempt at a honey-ginger saison. It's pretty experimental; it's the first one where I wasn't following a proven recipe. Hopefully it'll turn out well. Should know right around ICSP...

I am excited for the Bobby Miller Lite Lager beer. I need something to hydrate with before I go jogging.

The brown ale is now bottled. The leftover bit that wasn't enough to fill a bottle was delicious.

Moved the honey-ginger saison to secondary and sampled a bit while checking gravity. OMG.
Something else went into the bottle today. :ninja:
Another special brew has been assembled for tomorrow. Its contents will remain a mystery.

Too bad I don't have the required cooling equipment to do lagers.

The honey ginger saison is now in the bottle. There's always a little bit left that doesn't fill a bottle, and I always drink it because it's a sin to waste good beer.

This may be my all-time favoritest beer that ever beered. It's definitely a recipe that will see another batch.

Oh, and that second mystery brew is now fermenting.

    Time for an update:

The second mystery brew will be bottled this coming weekend. Despite its style being something I don't typically enjoy, this one is pretty good. A final special ingredient was added to the fermenter that should be a good complement to the style.

The third mystery brew was brewed this weekend. It's a custom recipe with a starting gravity of 1.086. If it tastes as good as things smelled during the brewing process, it's gonna be good.

Are any of these gluten free for the lady wife?

Nope. She's not particularly fond of beer. Cider and (sweet) wines are her thing.

I can attest to this, as I sat next to her at the Epic2012 wine tasting and consequently had to leave my car at the cafe that night.

Totes had nothing to do with 6/7 people drinking 5 more bottles of wine.

Nope. Absolutely nothing to do with the vertical tasting after the main tasting whatsoever. Entirely @purplemonkeygirl's fault.

Had to drop the last four batches off the Expo list. IRL stuff ate up all my brew time :( I'm bottling the Modelo and the India Dark Ale this week.
