Yahoo will be broken up into two brands: Altaba, which will basically just be a holding company for their stake in Alibaba, and Oath; a new media company. Not sure yet what will become of Yahoo.com, @yahoo.com email, etc.

Marissa Mayer is out with a $23m severance package.

  • Verizon just moved all it's mail servers to AOL, so they have stake in AOL and Yahoo, it is a strange play as far as I can see. Maybe there is some infrastructure or experience in the two companies that they found useful given the value. I don't know.

I was blown away when they were talking about this the other day. Saying that Oath will have 13k employees.

Yahoo! was once one of the biggest properties on the planet and now they're smaller than the company I work for. Smaller even than just the in-Detroit population.

She has a nice $260 million golden parachute, when you factor in her stock options.
