    All those things are true*

It ticks roughly once per second and is pretty at first glance. For $2, it was worth a gamble. I didn't expect anything other than ticking. Heck, I was more surprised that it did that, lol.

What happens when you put a $14 stainless band on a $20 Chinese mechanical?

I do enjoy my Vostok Tank Watch. The Amphibia is cool too. Too bad I won't be able to afford this anniversary watch.

    Acquired another watch last week:

This Waltham pocket watch was my grandfathers and appears date from ~1898.

Wound it and it actually runs (avg +2-3min/24 hours).

I feel I owe it a service but obviously it's of limited utility and keeps acceptable time anyway...

    Whoa! That's incredible @Basil!

Very nice. A pro clean and adjust shouldn't be too terribly expensive, either.

I have a 1911 Illinois pocket watch that I've been hesitant to get into rehab because it will probably run about $250, but I'm getting closer to it being worth it every year.

It's been almost five years at Shinola and I've never really bought myself a watch. We had some Filson watches go up for steep discount for employees so I bought myself a couple.

    Nice. I like the GMT.

  • ketoketo Occupied. Or is it preoccupied? Icrontian

Yeah, nice GMT. I'm kinda sorta in the market for one. Would love a BNLR, and might actually be able to make it happen in the spring.

Most recent acquisition, Tudor Black Bay, with in house mvmnt. About a month ago, still in love.

Today's new arrival. Had to take a picture of the manual and use lens to grab the text, then run that through translate so I could figure out how to wind it.

I'm digging it. Will probably grab another with a bigger overall size, but I like this one.

I love that there's a comma there. This now makes me automatically re-word it as in the translation.

No pics, but been a bit of a watch orgy in the past month.
Tudor Black Bay Black (in house)
    Rolex Explorer 214270
Hamilton Pan Europ - GREEN, yeah I'd never seen one. It's awesome
Seiko SUN063 was under the tree. Finally got my GMT.

From reading the watch forums, I've also become interested in fountain pens and gone from zero to full on collector in 2 weeks.

@BuddyJ I'm flying out today for a week. When I get back there should be about a dozen boxes on my desk lol. Mostly old Sheaffers, in particular Snorkels, but anyways I'll start a thread and post some pics if there isn't one up by then.

Most exciting find: 1954 Snorkel set (fountain + mech pencil), original box, original papers including bill of sale to a USA service member (discounted at the PX, he signs that he won't resell), stickers still on the pen & pencil.

  • BuddyJBuddyJ Dept. of Propaganda OKC Icrontian

@keto Very cool! I'm excited to see photos when you get back. I don't have any vintage pens yet but I've been very happy with my Pilot Metropolitan and Kaweco Sport. Both have been great workhorse pens. I've used both Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-Kai (dark blue) and Diamine Sherwood (dark green) inks in them.

Nothing to see here. Starting a fountain pens thread somewhere else :P

And, because I'm still an addict, and my wife decided that the 38mm Vostok was too small, I present my new addition: a Parnis power reserve tourbillon:

    Edit: phonepostin fail.
