You think you car has some bling bling? Step aside, bucky...
Here are some pictures of the interior of the Sultan's Flight, an Airbus A340-212. The conversion from a passenger aircraft into this probably cost more than the actual aircraft itself (~130 million dollars).
IGNORE the caption of this photos. That quote is fake. No USAF Lieutenant General would mistake an Airbus A340 for a Boeing product.

My Brother has his own air frieght company and used to lease a cargo jumbo for the Sultan. It used to pick up a couple of rollers here, then off to Italy and get a couple of Ferraris and Germany for a Merc or two. He used to meet the Sultans rep who told him of his last visit to Rolls Royce. He looked at one car and said "we'll take that one" the Rolls guy said that was a special one off built by the apprentices and was not for sale. The rep opened a cheque book and said "No, you don't understand, We'll take that one, how much?" I believe it went for several million pounds. Now that's clout!

I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that the Airbus was built by Airbus as it sits and isn't a conversion. They'll build to suit for anyone with the cash to spend and have a prototypical commercial 300 series that I've seen shots of that is nearly as opulent as the sultans craft. I spend hours watching Discovery Wings and they were talking about Airbus building the jet to displace the 747 as the biggest passenger jet, pretty interesting show.

That A340 was completed for Royal Brunei airline as a passenger A340. But after a delivery it was immediately purchased by the Sultan's representative, and sent back to Airbus for conversion to be part of the Sultan's Flight.
Another A340 was purpose-built by Airbus to be in the Sultan's Flight. It carries his staff and other government officials when the Sultan travels on diplomatic missions.
V8-BKH is the personal A340
V8-AC3 is the staff A340

Actually Bill Gates only owns a single personal jet, a GulfStream V, which is much smaller than the A340. The A340 is a widebody passenger jet that can carry 285 people, the Gulfstream a 12-15 pax business jet.

I was just kidding....... but I bet Bill Gates could afford a cooler plane than that guy anyway. Screw planes, I'd rather have a big ass house-hovercraft thing.

I'm normally a capitalist conservative pig (AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! for letting me be that way) :usflag: who believes a person can and should do whatever the hell they want with their money, provided they don't harm anyone or do anything illegal. However, some part of me can't help but think that someone's misery, somewhere in the world, could not have been lessened had the Sultan chosen to outfit his plane with a more conventional sink material than solid gold. Corian is nice, as is ceramic, steel, even fiberglass. They all hold water, and all cost a great deal less. The savings likely could have been used to, oh, I don't know, help bring clean water to a 3rd world village somewhere? Such ostentatios displays of wealth tend to leave me feeling a little ill.
I return you now to your normally scheduled conspicuous consumption.
