Happy Friday to you all!

Just wondering if any of you are having trouble accessing overclockers.com?

Haven't been able to get to their home page for 3 - 4 days.

Thanks,

RADA

Works here, with a visible forward in the route. Probably was a DNS problem during a hosting or hosting server change being ironed out and the fix spread over the web-- old route to site has to be changed to get new route to place working all over the world.

What happens is this-- if you have a site and you change hosts, you get a 40 hour to 7 day period (depending on how many ISPs are routing you to a site, ALL of which between you and site have to knwo where to go for things to work for you) where site shows for some folks and not for others. Registration changes, in this case record of where site moved to, can take 2-7 days to get changed so they are the same (with new route) world-wide. Changes propagate, they spread, and while not all places have change, some places trying to get to get to site do not have change yet for that time frame.

I am on Comcast, they use dynamic routing, servers and routers pass new route or better route to each other when changes are made. I changed hosts, now host with primesuspect's company. I had to wait 40 hours for base registration change to get to point where I could access site normally from a browser. I could get to site myself by putting a direct route to site in routing cache locally within two hours of of request for hosting. I talked to tech support at my registrar, they told me some things to do, those things they told me to do were wrong. I had to rechange my DNS and domain registration to get what I wanted to work to actually work. Parts of what I wanted to do took about 3 days and 4 hours from host change to really work right. Primesuspect's tech also set things up to do what I wanted while my changes were being sent out.

What did I do??? The site http://www.danielsonsystems.org/ comes up as same site when you type in .net, .com, or .org as end of that routing name. I own those domains, via kinda a renewable lease called domain registration. The site http://www.johndanielsonii.com/ now comes up if you substitute .net for .com, as same site exactly, and it is stored on hosting server as johndanielsonii.com .

DNS change due to registration record change is what happened here. a registration lapse and renewal after old DNS has been pulled will do this also. My domain leases autorenew, charges are made to a credit card. Right now I own 7 domains. Two are parked. Other five have active routes. If you want to see a deliberately (and totally freely) parked site, look at http://www.danielsonsystems.biz/ -- do not yet have a web eCommerce site, expect to have one in about 12-18 months given present plans.

HTH.
