AMD has stated there will only be One FX chip available at a time. As the next arrives the previous will be phased out.
So I doubt that BOTH the FX-53 and the FX-55 will both show up at the same time.
According to tests the extra 512K L2 doesn't give you much though.....

If they can get the opterons up at that speed (2.6+ GHz) soon the Xeon is gonna be in for some real pain.
Socket 754 Athlon XPs... :wtf:
Yes, they are supposed to be Athlon64's with deactivated 64 bit extension.
Weird, that they want to keep having 32 bit CPUs instead of migrating all to 64 bit. I guess its a marketing thing to be able to charge more for 64 bit CPU's.
But who knows, maybe you will be able to mod to reactivate the 64 bit part again and get yourself a cheap Athlon 64. :D

AMD need a cheap part to compete with Prescott Celerons.

One can only hope that the PresHot Celeron runs cooler than it's umm.. faster sibling.
If not, intel will make an inefficient, hot, expensive and slow "Budget Processor"
Looking forward to see some benches.
The NW Celeron was thoroughly beaten by even a Duron.
I'll give it a :thumbsdow in advance.

True, but at 90nm it'll be dirt cheap to make. And unfortunately few people outside of the community pay attention to benchmarks

i was under the impression the newer Athlon XP's built on the A64 core were meant to compete with the Prescott Celeron's.

Current Reports have the FX-55 arriving in 3Q 2004 and being the 1st 90nm Opteron
