I see quite a few folders in C:\Windows which I am fairly sure a usless. (OK, you Linux guys will say they are ALL useless...:p )

Which ones are known to be pure garbage? I see a few of them which seem to be there just for the initial installation. I know that what seems like crapola to me might be important in some way, and I don't want to experiment. I have too many computers to work on right now to be in the mood for a repair install.

Which ones are the known clunkers?

One folder that I always delete is ServicePackFiles. It can be pretty huge.

I also sort by Type and delete all .log and .txt files except for:

SchedLgU.txt
Sti_Trace.log

because they are locked, and cannot be deleted.

Are the ServicePackFiles solely for the purpose of uninstalling unwanted service packs?

Yeah, I believe also that if you install any components in the "add/remove windows components" control panel, it'll take the files in there over any off of the CD or wherever your /i386 folder is... So, just be aware that if you delete this folder, and you install any components in that control panel, you'll have to reapply any Service Packs.
