View Full Version : Textured DropShip, long render time!
This version of this dropship I only added a littlebit texturing, but I went ahead and added a Skylight along with a Target light for a bit more depth.
What do ya think?
Render Time: 28min 48sec OUCH! Just ONE frame.... This will be painful without a Render Farm when I do a 24FPS Animation ;) lol

Looks great, I can't wait to see the big bot fully rendered, I wonder how long it'll take to render.

Time for a faster computer. You run SMP yet?
I don't mean to be critical, but it looks like the dropship is made of slate/shale more than it looks to be made of metal.
Not yet, but it is in my plans for when I graduate and have a paying job. For now it is just Dual PC's :P
I have an Athlon64 3000+(OC'd to 2.1GHz) w/ Radeon 9700 Pro(also OC'd a tad) and my ol' P4 2.4B which overclocks to 2.7-2.8GHz easily with a GF4 Ti4600 OC'd also.

Very nice RWB, what program? how many polys? what resolution did you render it at?

It won't for long, but I know what you mean, it is just that it is too "clean" at the moment, when I add some texture mattes to it for the down and dirty look, it will be much better. Also the tweaking of bump maps and stuff is still needed.
RIght now I can't think with my room being a mess so I am sorting out everything ATM. Then back to work on the model.

Um, texture bottom more than top for roughs, I would guess atmospheric particulates will erode more than micrometiorite storms (which looks like what you tried for with pitting effect). This is a lander ship, right???? Even with zero atmosphere, particles of silicon stuff would be thrown up on impact, and texture pit metal, but not on top as much as on bottom with a round dropship.... NEAT, though.

Ugh, this thing is being a real bitch now. May take me as long to texture it and the Mech as it took to model it, if not longer. But I know I am getting better and better at it each time I try, so hopefully I'll be damned good at it by Monday.
thats cool, any places you guys could point out where i could learn how to do that?
