Way to fold, gc. :fold: A well earned trophy.

Can't wait to get it myself, though it will take awhile, lol.

Greg, have to ask. I had a look how many proc's you are running and it shows 3. Is the P4 2.6c Hyper Threading???? If not, you are missing out by running a 4th one. Don't mean to pry, just like to help.

yea the p4 has hyper-threading how do I get it to run as an extra processor?

If you're using the console you can either add a second console (make sure the machine ID's are different), or add the graphical version.

You can't run two instances of the graphical version, so if you're using that you must add the console version. (Or switch to two console versions.)

This thread (http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10308) should answer most questions.

How about that? You win the BWA, then find out how to boost things even further! :clap: :fold:

Good catch, dragonV8 - he ought to split the extra points with you for spotting it! :cheers:

Edit:

Courtesy of csimon (who knows a little bit about Folding!)

find the client.cfg file in the first instance of F@H and it should look simular to this:

[settings]
username=csimon
team=93
asknet=no
machineid=1
local=112

[http]
active=no
host=localhost
port=8080
usereg=no

[clienttype]
type=1

[core]
checkpoint=30

The second instance simular to this:

[settings]
username=csimon
team=93
asknet=no
machineid=2
local=112

[http]
active=no
host=localhost
port=8080
usereg=no

[clienttype]
type=1

[core]
checkpoint=30

So ...the only thing that distinguishes one instance from the other is the machine ID! If both client.cfg files use machineid=1 then they won't both work.

Greg, though i'm not real good at setting up 2 lots in Hyper Threading, i know it can be done as my wife, Jonshandbrake, has 2 P4's in HT and she set them up herself. Just remember to ask questions if you are not sure. There is a wealth of knowledge in this forum and the good folk here are only too willing to help.

Remember: The only stupid question is the one you DON'T ask. Once you get the extra one running you will need some advise on some flags to put into the system to make it fold even better/faster. The experts know much more than i do, but it will be things like "-verbosity 9, -advmethods" etc.

Hope it's not too confusing for you. Believe me when i say the effort will be well rewarded. Sally, the handbrake, runs 4 computers. Because 2 of those are P4's Hyper Threading, she does 6 work units at the time instead of 4.

All the best

Jon

ps. Greg, if you use MSN, Sally said she can help you out using that method of contact. That way you can ask/receive help instantly, making it easier if you are having problems.
