Linux Fedora Core 1 Noob

Ok so the other half bought me a book on Fedora for beginners for Easter and I've now loaded it on to my lappy.

I had remove my Windows 2000 installation in order to get it to load as it wouldn't install on the unpationed 10 gig space I made for it. But i really want to have a dual boot setup, so can I install windows back on to unformatted 10 gig space I have left. According to the manual i should be able to but what do you guys think?

Currently posting this from the lappy using Mozilla & got to say it looks a lot nicer than IE6. The idea is that use this for learning about fedora and then go onto build a linux based web/file server once I familiar with it.

yea you could install windows back but would screw up your mbr. I recommend you install your boot loader in /boot instead of mbr probly the simpliest thing for you to do is go ahead and install windows in the 10gb partition then just install fedora again if you decide at this point to put boot loader in mbr this fine but if you if you ever have to reinstall windows it will rewrite bootloader again. If you decide to install bootloader to /boot there is one of step after the install you have to do. you need to fdisk the mbr with the msdos version of fdisk. In dos just do "fdisk MBR" then you will be ready to reboot into eithier OS but now if you ever install windows again you just need to do this last step again.

It's possible to rewrite bootloader from linux but since your new too linux the way stated above will be simplier for you. Once you get some experience you could just fix bootloader from the bootable cd without having to reinstall anything.
