Times are changing, and so should the look of "desktop" computers. As the trend towards miniturization continues, desktops have remained an ungainly size.

Computer makers are getting hip to what style mavens have known for decades: The term "desktop computer" is itself a contradiction in terms as its bulk typically ensures it will wind up under the desk instead.

The problem is mostly thermal - whenever you want to miniaturize, you inevitably have to sacrifice either performance or silence. Given three choices: "Small" "Quiet" or "Fast", you can have any two of three.....

I agree for the mainstream desktop performance market, but for the rest of the mom & pop users as well as the corporate clients the small formfactor desktops have been selling like hotcakes. I've personally noticed quite a jump in the number of the small footprint desktops showing up around everywhere especially in the corporate area.
