Hi I have an Athlon XP 2700+ processor. I have attached a image of my system info. I am trying to see what is the max speed processor I can upgrade too.
Thanks guys

Depends on your mobo and cooling.

If you know your motherboard or computer manufacturer & model, post it here. If not:

http://www.motherboards.org/files/programs/bwz-rel.exe
Download and run that. Post your BIOS ID string here.

Also, what are you using the system for? An Athlon XP 2700 should be plenty fast...

1st question, what motherboard do you have and what chipset are you running?
If it's based off of a VIA KT333 or KT400 chipset you might be limited to an XP3000+ 333fsb model and try overclocking it after adding improved cooling or just try overclocking the 2700+ after putting a better cooler on it (read that as a Thermalright 800-9XX with Thermaltake Smartfan II attached to it...you can find them that clip to the socket or that attach using the screw holes around the socket if you have them, always a better bet if you lan much) and if it's based on an N-Force 2 chipset you'll be limited to a 333fsb proc unless it's the N-Force 2 Ultra 400 chipset which supports the 400fsb chips out now although I still would suggest overclocking it.

Well you cant upgrade much really from that. The fastest AMD CPU out there is the 2800+ at 2.25GHz for Socket A I think. There are the different FSB and cache versions you can get but your best bet would be to OC it a little bit.

Hi guys here is the bios string you asked for.
How do I overclock?

I'm not good with AMD processors. SiS website has the following information on this chipset's processors. Someone else can tell you what that means, I really don't know.

From what I'm reading you're stuck with what you have as the 2700+ is the end of the line as far as 266fsb XP's go. You probably have a prebuilt system judging from the fact it's using an SiS chipset which means that overclocking isn't really much of an option.

:( Unfortunately, that bios wizard screenshot couldn't give me the info I needed. It can't figure out what board you have, apparently. What make/model of computer or motherboard is this?

I see. Can you guys tell me what is my most cost effective upgrade for spped? I am a musician and need more speed. with the computer I have now can't I just switch out my motherboard and get a new processor?
If so? Can you guys recommend a fast Athlon priocessor and good board?
Thx

It's difficult to help without knowing what's in your system now. :( What software are you using?
