Many ISPs have limits to file attachment size on emails, since email was never really intended to transfer large files.
You should either find a way to FTP it to him, or compress the file to get it down to a smaller size (using ZIP or RAR for example)

Or use an Instant Messenger program to transfer it directly, such as MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, AIM or ICQ.

You are probably using hotmail which has a very low attachment size limit. Typically an email account with your ISP (internet service provider) can easily accommodate attachments of 5 mb or sometimes larger.
Best to use what Dexter suggested in your situation.
Hope this helps.
