Strange they still call them MP3 players even though they're intending them to play marginal quality WMA files. I've got no love for Apple but AAC sounds better....

Unfortunately, only a handful of players are compatible with "Napster To Go." They need to be able to tell whether or not you currently have a subscription, so it can cut you off if you cancel. Still, about the same price monthly as satellite radio, so not too bad.
Forgive me (and banish this post into oblivion) if this is a re-post. I found a complicated way of taking a screenshot:

In many European countries they have excellent public transportation and pay road taxes with their gas, which Americans don't on either account.

Well I wish this was one of them. I can drive to a town called Stockport in 15 minutes, by bus it's almost an hour (that's from actually getting on the bus, if it turns up). I've just paid my road tax, £93 for six months and petrol is over £3 per gallon. :bawling:
We pay about $1.05 to $1.15 per litre here in Sydney so lets see -
4 litres = 1.06 US gallons (or 0.88 U.K gallons)
so that's approx $4.50 a gallon
BUT
If we take the exchange rate into consideration that's $3.44 USD
or for bothered in the U.K 1.83 GBP
You're half right. (http://www.artba.org/economics_research/reports/gas_tax_history.htm)
I know we have gas tax, that's why prices on gas vary from each state--Read: California--but in countries like Germany they pay a lot of money for a liter of gas because their road taxes are rolled in almost full and have excellent public transportation systems that discourage driving.

It's all relative. We're just not used to paying a lot over here in the US. Gas prices are still lower than they were around 25 years ago, once inflation is taken into account. (That may not be true much longer - we're getting close.)
Of course, gasoline is still cheaper than fancy-pants bottled water and milk, though I don't recall ever going through 13 gallons of milk during the seven-hour drive to visit my family in Virginia, (about 400 miles away). :D

Having studied several foreign languages at university I am somewhat familiar with UK English. You might say that I know all about "wanking".
Since the 1/3 of our site's ownership (Shorty, may He live forever) who is from the UK has not deemed it offensive, I let it stand. So bugger-off. :vimp:
Censorship f**king sucks. :shakehead
I agree with you in principle. This is merely a case of determining what is appropriate for a particular time and place. The owners of this site are entitled to set the guidelines for any activity which transpires on the forum which they have provided for us. :)
I learned to cuss from the foremost experts in the field, the United States Navy, and was not personally offended by any of the recent posts. (As I mentioned before, I found them quite funny.) However, I do agree with the policy which led to the deletion of the pics.
This is not a reflection on anyone here and I am absolutely positive that no one meant any harm. It was just a matter of enforcing the standards which apply equally to all of us.

tcith,
The movie is a farsical look at a semi-sport. In reality, grade school kids play dodgeball, but in the movie it is portrayed as a serious adult sport as seen on ESPN "Ocho." The movie is hysterically funny, so I do recommend wearing Depends undergarments when you watch.

I don't beleive that I have ever heard the phrase 'Ginger Kid'...
It's used here and in the U.K - a number of english and aussie comedians make fun of redheads, ginger or blood nuts.
British comedian Graham Norton often picks out red heads in his audience and makes fun of them or berates people who date red heads.
Why? What's wrong with orange hair?

GTA: Louisiana. I know this is wrong, but some might find it funny.
If it read New Orleans then the rest of Louisiana would laugh too!
I have an email all about that somewhere and if I dig it out I'll post it. It basically states how the rest of Louisiana feels about the New Orleans crew and their behavior.
We in Vermilion parish on the other hand endured hurricane Rita only two weeks after Katrina and went right back into the mess to begin cleaning and rescuing right away ...it's still going on right now as a matter of fact. Not one spec of news about looting or any other such misconduct or misbehavior here.
The way we figure it is ...why wait for the government?

"Astrodome: Within two minutes of AFP photographer Stanly Honda electronically publishing a photo of Katrina victim Latesha Vinette holding up her Red Cross debit card, Ms. Vinette was paged by the management of Reliant stadium to receive a call from Mastercard asking about cash advances totally $65,237, the attempted purchase of a Ferrari automobile using her card #, along with hundreds of purchases from eBay, including, ironically, camping gear."

As for the obesity one, check out the orange phrase under it. "Food Stamps can help?" Help what? Make them fatter for free?
Food stamps make it affordable for some families to eat healthier.
Obesity is not usually caused by eating too much, it's caused by eating the wrong foods.
The argument is that in general impoverished people (and their children) end up obese because all they can afford is the really unhealthy processed foods, foods that are high in High-Fructose Corn Syrup (like Little Debbie's), and McDonald's dollar menu. Eating these types of foods everyday will make you obese, even if you only eat normal sized portions of them.
Personally, I think that it is a laziness problem, not a money problem.
It's what we call a 'causal fallacy'. Specifically, it's a 'correlative confusion'. When my students write persuasive essays for my class, I have to correct them about this all the time. In this case, it's the government (specifically, the food stamp program) that is making the error. They believe that poverty causes child obesity. They believe this because they see that many impoverished families have obese children. More likely, though, there is some other cause that is responsible for both effects. Like, laziness, for example. It's laziness that causes the families to have health problems, and it's also that same laziness that causes the family to be impoverished.
not always or necessarily true, but more likely.
It's like a study I once saw that said, "Servers who draw a smiling face in the customers bill get, on average, 8% more tips."
The author has made a logical fallacy based on his observations. More likely, the servers get bigger tips because they are nicer people. That same niceness may also be the reason that they draw smiling faces on bills...
Sorry, I digressed... again...
