Can't save data to cd/dvd drives.

Computer has 1 x cd burner and 1 x dvd burner.

We can play music and movies but when we wish to copy files from HD to cd or dvd drives it comes up with problems.

Select folder to move or copy, select E:\ or F:\, click on move or copy and this brings up an error message.

E:\ is not accessible
Incorrect function.

As we don't use the cd/dvd for copying much, we cannot remember when last it did work.

The internals of the puter have been changed a few times and the last change was 2 1/2 weeks ago. New Abit IC7 Max3 mobo and new ram.

Also changed the OS from XP Home to XP Pro. All drives are recognised by the OS.

Any thoughts??

What about with Nero or EZ CD Creator?

Personally I hate the windows XP default burner software. tis teh suxxors

a silly question but when you right-click the folder/file you want to burn, are you selecting Send To DVD/CD-RW drive or DirectCD Drive?

FormFactor, we have those programs available, however the problem is one of recognition. the puter will not allow us access to the drives when wanting to copy.

A while ago, Sally tried something different. Put a disk in another puter and tried the same thing across the network. This worked no problems.



Lin, thanks also for the suggestion. As you can see, it is the puter not recognising the 2 drives. If the new Cpu cooler arrives before i have to go back to work, i'll be pulling the mobo out and re-check the jumpers in the drives to make sure i did not make a mistake the last time i replaced the mobo. I was hoping, i guess, for an adjustment in a windows setting or something.

Now the files are copied via another method, we can afford the time to tinker and see what comes of it.
