View Full Version : Increase of Posts since the LAN

Maybe I'm still recovering from sleep deprivation, but I seem to notice a revival of Posting by some members (and other members that started to post that never did before, that should be posting... o-comik).

Really... The LAN has put a fire under many people. Even those that weren't able to attend. I think this is due to meeting the people that were once just user names and avatars.

Maybe Dan or Brian can see this increase. Are there any STATS that you can draw from that indicate an increase of access to the site and the number of post since this time last week?

An entire post without mention of Man touch, Fop, Snuffie, or Clutch's boo-Boo.... until now?

Well I can honestly say that I've posted more over the past few days than I usually do in a week. I guess when I joined SM I felt kinda isolated since there were so many people who knew each other and I was new. Since the LAN I feel like I know more people and thus feel more open to posting and general chatting.

I'm still trying to find my niche... The last few projects - satellite radio install, JP1 remote control programming, and my DirecTivo hack doesn't really fit anywhere. I don't really fool around with PC hardware as much as I used to, so you folks are head and shoulders above me on this stuff. I'm an idiot savant with outdated knowledge, help!

Perhaps I could have them start an old-timers section where I could post pictures of my old computers (yes I actually have quite a few) and discuss topics such as "EISA vs. ISA", "Whatever happened to the VESA bus?", "MFM vs RLL encoding" and "How do you say Xebec". There could even be a reminiscing section for some of us to tell our old technical support stories.

I will say one thing and I'm being very sincere, almost to the point of sounding sappy. The last forum I spent time in was the dealdatabase.com forums (Tivo hacking), I never experienced such a harsh, almost cruel community, especially to new members just trying to get some information (I laid low and thus never became victimized). Short-Media is the complete opposite and thus makes my experience here all that much more positive. It is really a great community and one that I'm very proud to be associated with (once the ban is lifted).

Thanks Q (QCH2002) for telling me about it and thanks to everyone else who has been so cordial. I happy to call this place home. * sniff.. sniff..*

Yes, I have seen an increase of posts, which is awesome, gives us more to talk about and to laugh about. And now since the LAN is over and we know more members better it's all good. If we didn't live so darn far apart we could do this stuff more often, but 16 hours is a long drive let me tell you.
