Leonardo
20 Jun 2004, 4:33pm
Top ten? May not happen at all. Around July 25, I'll be shutting down my home computers and packing them for our move to Alaska. We won't actually be on the road for the move until August 22; so that's a month's downtime. (I'll be at my sister's house in the interim.) My office computers - well, they'll run for a while. But eventually down the road, those machines probably won't be managed well enough to keep folding. Nevertheless, it's been a really fun run for the past year.

My home computers get disconnected on the 25th or 26th, this month. The last monitoring I'll do of my office computers will be around the 20th of August. Unfortunately, I have to move out of my house (leased) a month before we move. My family will be staying with my sister then.

I'll be staying with my sister as well. Trailer? Yes, I just bought a cargo trailer second-hand and spent the last two days getting in shape for our move. Oh, BTW, all my computer gear goes with us, packed in the trailer. No way I'm going to let movers lose or destroy my puters, or otherwise prevent me from setting up Folding again as soon as opportunity arises.

Reign of terror no longer a threat to the mighty top ten. Marc, you can relax, at least concerning my threat. Witenoiz will pass me before I can flank you. I'll be shutting down and packing my home computers on July 26. I won't be setting them up again until sometime in September.
Witenoiz, I'm counting on you to take the torch of terror from me and charge through the ranks.
I had really wanted to be in the top-ten again; last time was about 18 months ago, if I remember correctly. May I toot my own horn? Consolation is that I am in the top ten now - production rate, that is.

I got to thinking about this and really we/I should show a little respect here for the object of this little game. Poor mmonnin - I seem to be forgetting this is a real person and we are going to stomp him and grind him into a puddle of goooeey gunk and walk all over him and track him into our businesses and homes like gum or doggie doo that gets stuck to our shoes. This is no way to treat a fellow folder. I didn't think it was even a remote possibitlitous that mmonnin would be disregarded in such a calous mannor. Marc already has the character thing under control.
The measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he never would be found out.
Baron Thomas Babington Macauley, English historian and statesman (1800-1859)
I was going to use a quote from Woodrow Wilson - but I don't know what a "prig" is. Jack

I was going to use a quote from Woodrow Wilson - but I don't know what a "prig" is. Jack
OOPS!! Now I might get in trouble - better take a stand and use it.
If you will think about what you ought to do for other people, your character will take care of itself. Character is a by-product, and any man who devotes himself to its cultivation in his own case will become a selfish prig.
Woodrow Wilson, 28th American president (1856-1924)

prig (n.)
1. A person who demonstrates an exaggerated conformity or propriety, especially in an irritatingly arrogant or smug manner.
2. Chiefly British. A petty thief or pickpocket.
3. Archaic. A conceited dandy; a fop.

My sources tell me Leonardo has been recruiting various and sundry groups in and around Augusta to fold for him in a desperate effort to gain 3,000 points (Remember I have to gain 13,0000 points) and has been turned down by the Girl Scouts of America, The August Augusta Matrons Bridge Club, and The Sunnyvale Retirement Center - BUT Ernie's Weekend Lemonade and Kool Aide Stand is kicking in his folks Premier 200 AT - but they need to find a 5 1/4 floppy boot disk for it.
We now pause for station identification, "This is the witenoiz folding Network, broadcasting from our new channel position 18 - we have FCC approval for channel 17 - Please adjust your remote control at this time." :Rocker: Thanks - Jack

Well, I went to the local hardware store where I live in Grovetown ("Grooveytown"). I struck up a conversation inside (too dang hot to set out on the porch in a rocking chair in front). Folding? No one could understand why I would do that. They all thought I was talking about "one of them skinny computers that you fold up and flip down that little TV screen" (pronounced scrayin).
