It has been reported today that Intel's BTX form factor, a proposed future industry standard, may not work on AMD systems.
The problem seems to be the relative CPU and DIMM placement; the standard requires placement of DIMM sockets too far from the processor. With the Athlon 64's integrated memory controller, following the BTX spec becomes very difficult.

NOOO!!!
Actually, I don't see the issue, why not just move things around? They're engineers, they can handle that can't they?

I'm sure Ford said that about the Pinto, too... ;D
Real estate on an Athlon 64 board is not exactly a common commodity.

Why bother making it btx then. Just leave it as atx.
BTX Speech: "Blah blah blah ATX represents inadequate thermal dissipation in an era that's witnessing exponential increases in heat output."

sneaky intel...
MY feeling is that Intel wants BTX to remedy the ****ty engineering that went into their new <s>furnace</s> Prescott.

Not furnace Thrax, central heating unit for your house. :D
Why doesn't that surprise me?
Of course intels new standard wouldn't be suitable for the Athlon64.
AMD will have to make an Extreme-BTX standard. (Whoops guess that would be a bit too Intellish?)
Oh well the BTX standard only serves one purpose.
To maximise the heat output from the new PresHot furnace.
Now we wouldn't want all that heat to build up inside the case now would we?
No it has to come out and heat our home. (oh that sounds just great)

id like to build a dual prescott system so I can funel the heat out and make a dryer for my cloths, the laundry room charges a dollar to dry a load but with a dual prescott system, well I could get a pc and cloths dryer in 1.
