SATA and UATA not booting

I have an STAT drive that boots just fine on it's own.

Then I hooked up a UATA drive and got a NTLDR failure because it was trying to boot off this new drive that has no OS. That was corrected by just fixing the boot order.

Now I get past that NTLDR error, but it just sits at a black screen just before the WinXP logo would come up. The MS knowledge database says this could be caused by corrupted boot data on my drive or a NTLDR error, but I know thats not true because it will boot fine on it's own. And I have checked the boot sequence several times and its in the correct order.

Any ideas?

Is there an OS loaded on the UATA drive that you forgot about? I would try to disconnect the SATA drive, leave the UATA drive connected, run the XP setup cd and delete any partitions found and then recreate them and format the drive. Then reconnect the SATA drive, make sure the boot order is correct in the bios, and see if it boots.

Just an idea.

Thanks for the reply.

I finally fixed it. There was an IDE bus master switch that was buried in the bios and had defaulted to disabled for some reason. Everything is working now.
