UK boasts 4m broadband users

The latest stats from communications regulator Ofcom have revealed there are almost four million broadband users in the UK. This figure appears to be rising by increasing amounts every month. Still, BT doesn't expect to have achieved 99% coverage through its lines until the summer 2005.

Last week, research from UK ISP Wanadoo found that broadband is becoming so popular people are switching off their TVs in favour of the Net. The study showed that broadband is the fastest-growing medium in the home with people spending 12 per cent less time in front of the box.

I just need to spend some time around exorbitant amounts of 512k DSL, and Canadian television programming! I'd be all set!

(No, but in all honesty, I was speaking with a person who works for Pipex and he was saying that a few years ago the BBC was attempting to throw its weight around against large broadband ISPs, because it would shovel users wholesale away from the TV.)

Well the BBC has a different boss now, thanks to Lord Hutton. But BT and BT reliant ISP's are two completely different things with regard to the way they sway (if you know what I mean) and it certainly isn't ISP's that are working against ADSL roll-out at the moment. It's BT themselves. In fact I don't think BT could have worked any harder over the last couple of years to hamper the roll-out of ADSL in this Kingdom. BBC dictated or not. ;D

They are without a doubt, the most inept (on purpose no doubt) telecom organisation in the UK today. The problem is, they also just happen to be the largest.
