You could also try a diffrent PSU and see if that helps.
K it had a 1GHz duron but I tried my 750MHz duron. Out of 6 reboots with the 750 I saw one command prompt and a bios. then blank. sometimes the screen would look like it was going to display something then sometimes nothing. Put the 1GHz in and boom nothing booted but no screen and monitor light was yellow for no signal

Maybe the PSU is not giving the 1ghz enough juice or the board is just fubared.
its a 300 watt with a asus board, 1GHz duron, 256mb ram, fan for cpu, 9000 pro, 6GB hd and dvd-rom. I even unhooked hd and dvd-rom, but nothing
I just thought about it and I have pny pc3200 could that be a problem? and the other stick I tried was pny pc3200.

If you tried a diffrent PSU, then I guess all you have left to try is another board.

You're running the Duron at 100mhz FSB, right?
dunno cant see in bios. but the ram is 3200 and the package says for pc3200 only. but my board is a asus a7v266 which only goes up to 266fsb

Do you have some PC2100 or PC1600 laying around? Try another ram slot. Did you try a diffrent PSU?
i only have pc3200 and pc4000. I tried diffpower supply and same thing

Well try another board or the parts in another system.
any chances that there could be a problem with the memory speed. cause the back of the mempry package says compatiable with ddr3200 systems only?

AFAIK that stuff is usually backwards compatible but it could be a problem. You should try a 133mhz FSB cpu.
