so .... always make sure you double check how the fan is mounted. cuz for the last day or two ... apparently my Smart Fan 2 has been pulling air OFF THE CPU. the funny part is, ambient temperature is 27*C. 100% load, cpu temp is 38*C :zombie: wtf...that, my friends, is insane. it's still backwards as i type this, and i'm gonna get down and fix it soon.

I thought that was how they worked for the longest time....

actually, i believe some do. dells might. but for normal heatsinks, you want air blowing down on them.

those are good temps, why change it?

Those temps aren't too bad, any thoughts Geeky?

i figured i can get cooler. few minutes into windows, idling at 25*C, fan rpm of 2260. previously, it was at 28-29*C with rpm of 3k or above. at night obvoiusly it changes but i'm talking about several minutes before i switched it around. still need to test load temp and will do so in a bit.

some heatsink actually works better when the fans pulls air off of it, but some works better than the fan is blowing air onto it.

guys ... i never thought i'd say this ... but it seems to be more effective pulling air off :eek2: 100% load i'm getting 37-38*C, as opposed to 39-40*C the other way, but with close to 300 extra rpm on the fan. this isn't supposed to happen lol. slightly higher temps idle ... better efficiency when under load :hrm:

Alpha Pal 8045 advise to have the fan pulling air off the heatsink as its designed to work that way. I did a fews tests myself with it a long time ago & it did cool it a few degrees better pulling the air off it.

Interesting... I'll have to to some testing when I get a SF2 on my shiny new sp-94!
