Windows XP Starter Edition Revealed

Microsoft is currently planning a new edition to the Windows XP family of operating systems, named "Starter Edition". Starter Edition is an attempt by the software giant to deliver a tailored and localized Windows product to Thailand and Malaysia, as part of Microsoft's efforts to enable access to technology.

Previous rumours suggested that Windows XP Starter Edition would include a set of applications on top of the standard Windows XP installation (including Office 2003). We cannot confirm these reports but are awaiting a statement from Microsoft Press.
Some experts predict Microsoft will follow up this new edition with a Main Course and Desert version also.

A barebones XP would be the greatest -- anybody know if it's any smaller than a manually stripped down xp, crunched by xplite (litepc.com)? Lowest install I've gotten thus far is something shy of 400 megabytes but I think you can go down to 300 if you delete the driver cabs and use your install disks when you need them.
Imagine if starter's already smaller and you can still get rid of ms embeds like outlook express and messenger, most of ie etc. manually or with XPlite.
Doubt I'd be the only Linux dropout who'd be thrilled to be able to run a totally 'clean' windows install!
