"Research assitant" sounded way cooler than it is turning out to be.

The highlight of my day? Take a look at the attachment. The joys of downloading data...

I'm trying to download about 7 gigs of stuff from the Mass. GIS FTP. It is absolutely crawling - I've got less than 100mb so far.

I was all excited when I first got on their site. I have to do this for every state, and some states have better data than others. Massachusetts' data looks good, but it doesn't look like I'll ever get it all in this lifetime. Grr.

LOL! I can order the data on a set of 10 CDs and it'll be here in 10-14 days.

It could be here through US Mail faster than downloading it! (all for the low, low price of $200) That is nuts.

holy hell
you should drive down there and punch them in the face

Come to think of it, that would be the fastest way yet to get the data. I could drive there, punch them in the face, get the data, and drive back in a week's time.

Road trip

Gargoyle,

I feel your plight man. Just about everthing in MA is FUBARed. I know, spent the first 22 1/2 years of my life there.

I find it amazing that the birthplace of American Democracy has turned into US Capitol for Socialistic Bureaucracy. If there is a slower, harder, more taxing(both physically & $$$), way of doing things, then MA will use it. :banghead: :grumble:

If anybody knows of a web game where you can beat the crap out of Ted Kennedy, I would appreciate it if they could pass on a link :D

Now that would pass some time at work
