These are outtakes from Bill Cosby's speech to the NAACP. Good for him.

It's worth a read. A reflection of values and whats wrong with America today by a man unafraid to stand up and take the heat for saying what he truly believes.

Cheers All

I read about this last night. He is 100% right and no one would like to hear that. I have no faith in mankind anymore myself, the whole world is going down the crapper.

Cosby rocks, when i watch tv and its not anime it would only be 3 other things... "The Cosby Show" "Rosanne" and "X-Play"

cause those shows rock.

I have always had great respect for him, hes a good commedian and actor.

But now i have even more, and its all that he said was true.

Good Job Mr. Cosby!!!

Finally, its great to see someone address the issue. Like a giant kick in the sack wake up call.

But honestly, I don't think anyone will heed it, as long as theres pop artists that make it cool to be stupid, nothing will change :banghead:

LOL ...only a black man can get away with addressing those issues otherwise it would be turmoil and rioting.

Hitokiri,

I'll have to take your word for it "being like a giant kick-in-the-sack wake-up call"-> my Sony Dream Machine works fine LOL

I have to wonder- I can only see so many hot girls walking around with those guys who wear their baseball hats like they just rolled down the stairs before I start to ask myself "just WHO told those girls that these idjits look cool?" And yeah, having a criminal record by the age of 15 just makes them sexier...

I guess I was square growing up- my hero was Wayne Gretzky (He did wear his uniform tucked in on one side, though. Maybe he's responsible for it this whole craze!!!).

I don't see this as just a black thing anymore, because tons of white guys, Hispanics, and all races wear these types of clothes and attitudes now. Cosby just stood up to his own, and I applaud him for it. We can only hope that it is a fad, and like any other trend (anyone see acid-wash anymore???) this whole attitude/ridiciculous dress will fade. Everyone thought that the Nirvana-style music fad was the next era of rock, and it lasted 5 years.

The main problem with this "fad" of ignorance and sloppy clothing is that it seems to extend into behaviour that is extremely harmful to the induvidual participating as well as the people around them. The decisions made by youth involved extends into their adult life. What Guyute said about having a criminal record early being "cool" is something I have seen at work in the highschool kids there. What chance do you have of bettering yourself with a felony at 18?

I must agree with Mr. Cosby on all those points especially the point about blacks calling themselves ******s. Now I thought that this was a degrading and extremly racist word that is usually directed at people of black skin color. But then I go out of my house and hear black people calling themselves ******s all the time. It really makes me wonder if their ancestors really suffered for nothing. I really hope that Mr. Cosby continues his crusade. I don't think it will do much though but it will draw attention to the true core of the problem.
