An online dating service hopes to help its love seekers avoid the sleazily married by filtering philanderers.

Upstart dating service True.com, which already screens for felons, recently expanded its partnership with database provider Rapsheets.com to review public records and verify a user's single status. If a wannabe Romeo turns out to be a married Pinocchio, the user is thrown out of the cyber-circle.
Watch how fast this one goes out of business. Philanderers make up a sizeable portion of the dating services. -KF

A birdie told me? I've never philandered, it was in another news story I read a while back. Nice try though :)

Is "philander" just an upper class way of saying "cheating bastard"?

You hit it right on the head! Same thing, nicer way of saying it.

I don't understand why "philanderers" lie about their marital status on single sites when sites such as discreetadventures.com exist.
