Last night I did a bunch of reading and found out why my system wouldn't go past 222FSB without my SATA RAID corrupting on me. The Asus A8V Deluxe don't have the PCI/AGP bus locked by default. I rooted around the web and found a old beta bios that people have been having success (PCI/AGP locked)with and went to work. After some more memory testing I got it running @ 237FSB for a overclock of 2600Mhz however windows would crash. I figured that it is obtainable but didn't have the time to get it to work as of yet. I was too tired. So I went down to 228FSB for a total overclock of 2508Mhz. Upped the voltage to 1.625 for stability and ran prime95 and folding@home. Six or so hours later everything was still in order. Going to try 2600Mhz tonight.

oi my mouth waters at the thought of a a64 @ 2.5ghz. can you put up some bench marks so I can see how bad it beats up my 2500m at 2.5ghz

Which ones would you like to see. I'll post them after work tomorrow.

Hehe :) How about some sandra cpu benches and memory with a little pcmarks2004 on the side. dunno what kind a video card you have in that beast but a little aquamarks never hurts. Those 3 or 4 should crush my hardware ego enough.

No problem I'll serve that up tonight after work.

yep it's deff beating up my mobile 2500m clocked higher than 2500mghz. Thats a sweet 3dmark score on a 9800pro. Don't really see a reason for you to upgrade higher except to have a rediculously high score.

That is pretty sweet overclock you got there yourself. I don't expect to upgrade my video card for another year. I'm hoping they make a AGP for the R520 core from ATI. That should be my last upgrade before I have to do another overhaul on my system.

Thank you bud, I've been contumplating going 64 but just haven't made my mind up. ON one hand I do but on the other I feal like I can get another 6 mos to a year on this setup. On top of that I know I will want a dual 64 core cpu when they come out. One thing I have to upgrade is the video card. Currently I'm using a hacked 9500pro. I get about 4550 3dmarks 2003 on it and 15000 something on 2001. Doom3 was the first time I felt it as being under powered. So I may just upgrade that after christmas. Either go with something hi end or buy someones old 9800pro and get a water cooling setup.

just out of interest, what's limiting you at the moment? I have my A64 3200+ running at 2400ish (HTT=220MHz) but with AGP / PCI locks I reckon I could go higher..... Just wondering if it's worth buying a board with locks, or if something else would hold me back.
